It's never going to end

All photos taken between 9 and 9:30 pm down on the beach in Iqaluit on June 29, 2009. Yes, there is still that much ice kicking around. And no, I don't think it's ever going to leave. God knows when the first sea lift boat is going to be able to get in. Normally the first one has arrived by now. If the ice stays like this, it's going to be the middle of July, at the absolute earliest, before that happens.

We just got a windstorm that has been helping to break up the ice over here. I'll try and send some your way lol. Great photos btw!

I like how you look like an accomplished explorer in the last photo.

I shall now call you Columbus. Okay, Columbus?

Good.

I think a doomed arctic explorer would be more appropriate.

I enjoy reading stories talking about how early the ice has broken up and how there is hardly any around....except for Frobisher Bay, apparently.

if it's any consolation, the fog is so thick here that i had bike lights on at 8am (despite sunrise at 3 or something)...and all the news is about the 'heatwave' across the 'entire' UK.
