Set back

Names have been changed to protect the guilty.

I walked into my office this morning with the message light flashing on my phone. Generally speaking, not the way you want to start your Monday morning.

"Hey, this is *****. It's about ten to nine," I glance at the computer screen, which reads 8:30. That means someone is calling me from the future. Cool. This has never happened before.

"Sorry I didn't get back to you last week on the curling thing..." and **** goes on chatting for a few more minutes about a couple of things I won't bore blog readers with.

Still, I'm curious about the whole time thing, although I have a sneaking suspicion what happened. So I give **** a call.

"Hey man, it's me."

"Hey, how are you doing?" **** replies.

"Good," I said. "Man, you're in the office early this morning, leaving me messages that early."

"I guess," **** said, sounding slightly perplexed. "Although it's 9:30 and nobody is in here yet, which is weird."

I start laughing. "Dude, the clocks went back yesterday."

"What? Are you fucking kidding me? What time is it?"

"8:35," I said.

"For fuck's sake! No wonder no one is here yet. Fuck!"

So just in case you've ever wondered if people forget to set their clocks back and go into work early on Monday morning... yes, yes they do.

And really, a good laugh is a much better way to start a Monday morning.

**** does curse a lot. Thank god **** is not, oh, I don't know, a reporter or something who hadn't noticed the clocks going back yesterday.

Fuck, man. That would be embarrassing...
