It is a very frustrating situation and I know so many people, both Inuit and Southerners who are in the trenches, trying their best everyday with these kids. It's just a slap in the face when you read comments suggesting that no one cares and we should all just leave and give up. I find the whole situation very disheartening. Thanks for the obvious thought you put into this post.

-RichardRichard, Margot, Lilibeth, Beckett, Smoot and Kalahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14909698279604153134noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10757771.post-20906143376056218442010-10-19T08:56:03.146-04:002010-10-19T08:56:03.146-04:00Well, they cover the territories separately. We're too small to include in a list of cities, no matter what's being counted.Meganhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17013847036123410760noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10757771.post-57523662303685081262010-10-18T15:08:38.354-04:002010-10-18T15:08:38.354-04:00I'm kind of surprised by that Maclean's ar...I'm kind of surprised by that Maclean's article. They've previously not included the territories in some of their articles on things like "most violent places in Canada" and other similar stories, because the small populations result in really skewed statistics.

It only takes a few incidents to make the territories look like the most dangerous places on a per capita basis, given that the populations of entire territories are smaller than many cities down south.

So, I'm not sure how much stock I'd put into the Maclean's article you've linked to.Adam Sniderhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12390422813912866583noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10757771.post-51622292523594867962010-10-18T10:07:20.592-04:002010-10-18T10:07:20.592-04:00The things I've been reading about happening i...The things I've been reading about happening in Cape Dorset just make my brain hurt. I'm sorry to hear about all that, and it's so sad. My thought about the situation is that maybe due to CD's size and remoteness, if a switch is "flipped" for one person towards violence, then maybe it easily spreads and the switch is turned on by other people in a small community? Have you seen the same thing in Iqualit with crime "waves" at any time? I am still eager to come and explore the Arctic but might leave CD off my list until things settle down.

Sorry to contribute on such a troubling post but I really enjoy the blog!Petehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17759059813818382920noreply@blogger.com
